BAM - VOETSTUK
On Thursday, October 26, the new performance VOETSTUK by actor and theater maker Marcos Valster da Costa Ferreira will premiere in the ZB in Middelburg.
VOETSTUK is a personal and musical performance and is about a black boy growing up in a 'white' environment. He finds little recognition in his youth. There are hardly any black heroes in the (history) books, fairy tales and films he grows up with. How come? Are there simply no black heroes or are there other reasons that they are missing?
VOETSTUK is a performance about how your history determines who you are today. About identity, prejudices and equal opportunities.
Marcos Valster da Costa Ferreira is an actor and theater maker, currently working for Toneelgroep Maastricht and Het Laagland, among others. He was seen in the performance (ALMOST) EVERYTHING WILL BE OK, directed by Inez Derksen. This performance, about a chronically ill boy, premiered at the Musica Sacra festival. In 2020, Marcos created the performance GRAY AREA in collaboration with the Amsterdam Fringe festival, about the quest for how your skincolor determines your identity. This performance is currently playing at schools, theaters and festivals, including Zeeland Nazomerfestival 2023.
