Shared Past
From 1st of July 2023, ZB Bibliotheek van Zeeland (ZB) will present the Knowledge Cabinet 'Shared Past' in the Zeeland Pavilion on the first floor of the ZB, Kousteensedijk 7 in Middelburg. In addition to the presentation in the ZB, part of this collection can also be found on 1st of July from 13:00 during Keti Koti on Adbijplein in Middelburg. Come by and discover the collection!
The Knowledge Cabinet 'Shared Past' offers an extensive selection of books that shine light on the slavery and colonial past from various perspectives. There is a special focus on black authors. Fiction, non-fiction and children's literature.
With this Knowledge Cabinet, the ZB wants to contribute to increasing knowledge and awareness about the transatlantic slavery past and its impact on our current society. Not to raise a question of guilt, but to investigate history together, exchange experiences, meet each other and create new stories for a shared and equal future. The Knowledge Cabinet 'Shared Past' was developed in collaboration with Black Archives Amsterdam and the Keti Koti Zeeland Foundation.
