Princess Beatrix will attend the 40th anniversary of the Four Freedoms Awards
Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands will attend the anniversary event of the 40th anniversary of the Four Freedoms Awards on Friday afternoon, 14 October, in the Koorkerk in Middelburg.

The first award ceremony was also held in the Koorkerk in October 1982, including the presentation of the International Four Freedoms Award to Princess Juliana. Over the past forty years, laureates such as Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Angela Merkel have received an award.
Princess Beatrix receives the first copy of the anniversary book. The program also looks back on the past forty years and looks ahead to the future. Keynote speaker is Ramin Shahzamani, director of War Child, which in 2008 received the award for Freedom from Fear. In addition, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt speaks on behalf of the Roosevelt family.
