In 1984, actress Liv Ullmann received the Freedom from Want Award. Ullman used her fame to draw attention to people in need. She represented international conscience, giving love and food to those in need.

Liv Johanne Ullmann was born in Japan in 1938 and grew up in Norway. From the 1970s, Ullmann became known as an international film star and icon. She starred in 12 films for Swedish director Ingmar Bergman and directed several films herself. Ullmann was an ambassador for UNICEF and honorary chair of the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children.
