"Why is oxygen important? To be able to breathe and live. The same applies to freedom. The freedom to be yourself, to be able to speak out - without that, life is suffocating."

Mulder has been Secretary-General at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science since 1 January 2024. Previously, she was responsible for immigration and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Since her studies in international organisations, she has focused on issues relating to the distribution of security and prosperity - internationally and nationally. Membership of the board of the Roosevelt Foundation ties in with this, the Four Freedoms are precisely about that.

Mulder's fondest memory of the first ceremony she attended was the evening before the award ceremony in combination with the ceremony itself. Several laureates practiced their speech the evening before, after dinner. "They wanted to do well in that room full of guests, but they were nervous. Their power was visible during their speeches during the formal ceremony. All the guests in the room felt: wow, they are impressive. As the Roosevelt Foundation, we try to support the laureates not only with and during this ceremony, but also afterwards - by using our network to offer them extra help with their mission. Only more urgent in these times."
